Fermenting To Connect

BOKASHI COMPOSTING

Ingredients:

1 part: green plants collected in your garden (the ones that “call you”)

1 part: bran

1 part: biochar or clay or the hard part of nuts

1 part: compost (hemp compost, or material left over from distillation, or chicken manure - best if it is wet)

1 part: dry vegetable parts (borage, utrice, dry leaves, mixture of many kinds) and add seeds, seedlings, sprouts (sunflower seeds, barley, etc)

1 liquid part: vegetable oil (1 big bottle)

1 liquid part: liquid left over from fermentation: kombucha, brine

1 bucket of old bokashi

Method:

  1. Walk around your garden and collect the green plants.

  2. Chop/hack the plants into small pieces by hand or use the machine.

  3. Mix all the ingredients (preferably in a disintegrator, sending everything through multiple times).

  4. Add wet ingredients.

  5. Mix everything again.

  6. Put the mixture in a barrel.

  7. Press it down as much as possible to ensure anaerobic fermentation.

  8. Put more bran on the top.

  9. Let it ferment for 2 months and up to 2 years.

Use:

  • You can use it for re-fertilisation of tired soil, when you are planting plants and at the end of the winter or in autumn.
